With the restoration and furnishing of the Dresden Castle, the inventory of the „Türkische Cammer“ (Turkish Chamber) is exhibited again starting in 2010 for the first time since 60 years. The exhibition is a collection of exotic pieces of art from several centuries – carried together by the Saxon rulers as diplomatic gifts, acquisitions and war loot from the Ottomans.

20th anniversary. The movie nights on the banks of the river Elbe are possibly the most beautiful Open-Air cinema- and concert-festival in Europe. With the world-famous skyline of Dresden’s historic district, the area on the banks of the river Elbe in the heart of the city offers approx. 4,000 seats for visitors of the movie events. At concerts, up to 15,000 fans can admire their celebrities there.

Germany’s oldest christmas market is within the centre of the hustle and bustle of Christmas time. An accessible Schwibbogen (decorative candle-arch) from the Erz Mountains, the biggest with a width of 13.4 metres and a height of 5 metres, ornaments the entrance area. In the show workshops you have the oportunity to look behind the scenes of the traditional Dresden Christmas stollen making. The world’s largest Erz Mountain step pyramide rotates on a prominent spot. A world of experience with a lot of fun, entertainment, opportunity to do crafting and of course Father Christmas awaits the young visitors of the Striezelmarkt. Capture the flavour of Christmas with gingerbread, roasted almonds and mulled wine.
